Promens builds new plant in Slovakia
27.02.2008
Promens has signed a build-and-lease contract for a new, state of the art plastics moulding factory in the town of Nitra in the western part of Slovakia. The new plant, which is 5.400 m2 will replace an old facility and has an option for an additional extension of up to 10.100 m2.

Established in 1999 Promens’ facility in Nitra primarily serves the automotive industry with various plastics components, engine covers, latches, interior parts, visual components, kinematic system parts and cooling system components.
Eastern Europe is becoming a hub for automotive manufacturing in Europe. Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Opel, Skoda, Suzuki, Toyota and VW as well as large tier 1 suppliers such as Valeo, FaurEcia and Lear are all located within a 130 km radius of Promens Nitra, as well as a number of large tier 2 suppliers to the industry. The new Promens plant is therefore strategically well located to serve these customers.

Slovakia is the second fastest-growing auto manufacturing country in Europe, following Germany. The Slovakian car production is expected to rise by 500,000 units by the year 2014 and similarly the total EU production is expected to exceed 20 million cars annually by the same time. This increase is partially due to the growing demand for cars in new member states that can support production growth by as much as 1.5 million cars.
Construction of the new Promens plant is already in progress and operations are scheduled to start in August of 2008. Currently Promens Nitra employs some 70 people, but the number of employees is expected to grow to more than 100 by the time the new plant is fully operational.
